Thorpe now two from five.

Thorpe now two from five.

Thorpe landed a well-deserved success by capping a consistent run of results with victory at the Sunshine Coast on Friday (May 26).

The Phoenix Thoroughbreds and Fung Family Investments owned gelding added a second career success from five starts following a run of placed efforts. The Fastnet Rock three-year-old had won on debut at Beaudesert before finishing second best on his next two starts and third on his penultimate run at Mudgee. A return to Queensland and the reapplication of blinkers worked the oracle as Annabel Neasham’s charge returned to winning ways with minimal fuss.

From a favourable draw, Thorpe was up with the pace as the race started to develop, with rider Ryan Maloney happy to let others do all the work in front. It was clear that the gelding was travelling well, and although looking all over the winner heading into the straight, Maloney had to be patient for a gap to appear. Once daylight presented itself, he threaded his mount through, and the gelding saluted with plenty left in the tank.

Thorpe will be heading to the sales at the end of this month as part of the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Racehorse Sale: Click hear for details.
