Hot on the heels of their first win in the US, the members of the Phoenix Ladies Syndicate are celebrating success Stateside again as Majestic Queen got off the mark at Sam Houston.
It was just 48 hours early that the orange and white colours of the all-female group were carried to victory for the first time in America thanks to the Mike Maker trained Skye Snow at Gulfstream. Now it was the turn of Steve Asmussen to provide a winner with Stewart Elliott in the saddle.
With a smart break from gate eight, Elliott was able to put Majestic Queen out in front early just one off the rail. Wimbledon Gold also showed some early speed and Elliott was content to sacrifice the lead and track the pacesetter. Moving into a share of the lead at the top of the stretch Elliott and his mount entered a three-way battle for the win with the Phoenix Ladies filly getting the better of her rivals.
The victory was the third in March for PLS who have three more runners scheduled to race at Meydan on Thursday.
