Phoenix Thoroughbreds and Aquis Farm again partnered up to strengthen their racing divisions in Australia, by jointly signing for several lots at the prestigious Magic Million Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Two of the newer powerhouses of global racing have enjoyed plenty of high-profile success together, most notably with Group One winner Farnan, who Phoenix also bred, and Group Three winners Prague and Holyfield. Off the track, the alliance have also joined forces to stand exciting young stallions Invader and Pierata.

Topping the quartet of new recruits for the partners on day one of the sales, was Lot 161, a Written Tycoon colt out of winning mare Choux Diva. Closely related to multiple Group One winner in New Zealand Jimmy Choux, the chestnut has strong blood-ties with another Group One winner in Miss Wilson.

Lot 161, a colt by Written Tycoon topped four purchases for Phoenix Thoroughrbres and Aquis Farm on day one of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Long before he had been through the ring, the partners had already moved to secure Lot 9, an athletic-looking son of Pierro and half brother to Group One JJ Atkins winner Capital Gain. A page littered with black-type winners includes multiple Group winner Darling Take Care and prolific scorers Regent Diamond and Mr Sands.

Vinery consigned the aforementioned Farnan and the Pheonix/Aquis partnership will hope lightning can strike twice after purchasing Lot 20 from the World famous farm. Out of the Group Three winning mare Afleet Esprit, the handsome Written Tycoon colt is from a family of high-profile winners.

Lot 60 rounds out day one’s purchasing. From the family of Group One success Forensics, this Snitzel colt can claim family connections with the dams of Not A Single Doubt, Zizou and Ghareeb.
