Loving Gaby’s Co-Trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace are favouring the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes for the star filly’s return to action.
Phoenix Thoroughbreds’ Group One winner took a step towards her comeback, with a nice looking Jump out at Caulfield on Tuesday. The daughter of I Am Invincible went strongly to the line under a hold alongside two-year-old stablemate Muntaseera in the 800-metre heat.
“It was her first jumpout back and she was drawn widest, Teo (Nugent) rode her and he knows her well, she closed off really nicely late,” He said.
“She always looks ready to go, she’s not one that lets down significantly in the paddock.
“I’m sure if we ran her now she’d be ready to go but we’ll have another strong hit-out before she either goes to the Oakleigh Plate or the Lightning.
“Ultimately the Newmarket is the target in the first half of the preparation so the Lightning obviously gives you another sighter down the straight, which is an advantage.”
The Black Caviar Lightning Stakes is scheduled for February 15th with the Oakleigh Plate taking place a week later.
