Lil Miss Moppet lands the hat-trick.

Lil Miss Moppet lands the hat-trick.

Lil Miss Moppet made it three wins on the bounce thanks to another dominating display at Monmouth on Wednesday, October 7.

The Phoenix Thoroughbreds owned filly has been a revelation since trainer Peter Miller switched the New Jersey-bred to race in her native State. Now unbeaten in all three starts since her return “home”, her latest success was almost a carbon copy of her previous trip to the winners’ circle.

Despite being drawn the widest of seven runners in the Allowance Optional Claiming event, the daughter of Uncle Mo was soon in the vanguard with jockey Paco Lopez able to utilise her natural gate speed. She sat off the pace until the entrance to the turn when Lopez let her have a bit more rein. Easing into a clear advantage, it looked from a long way out she was going to score again. Connections would have enjoyed Lopez’s slightly theatrical looks over his shoulder to check for dangers before he kicked for home. It turned out the four-year-old only needed minimal urgings to go and win her raced eased down.

Lil Miss Moppet will now target Stakes company for her next start before she, most likely, heads to the Keeneland November Sale.
