Peter Miller’s Lil Miss Moppet made it back to back wins, dominating the field at Monmouth on Saturday, September 12.
Backing up her maiden victory at the same venue on August 30, the Phoenix Thoroughbreds owned filly made short work of her opposition in an Allowance Optional Claiming contest.
A well-backed favourite for the six-furlong race, it never looked at any point as if her backer’s money would be left behind. Jockey Joe Bravo was keen to rush his mount to the front from a wide draw but soon settled in a close second to follow the fractions set by outsider Takeittocomitee. Entering the turn Lil Miss Moppt’s natural speed took her to the front with Bravo still motionless in the saddle. Turning for home the daughter of Coolmore’s Uncle Mo was clear and from there it was game over. A hands a heels finish saw her close out victory by two lengths.
