Lady Penelope aquired by Phoenix Thoroughbreds

Phoenix Thoroughbreds have bought promising filly Lady Penelope, who is scheduled to line-up in the owners white and orange silks for the first in the Group One Criterium International at ParisLongchamp on Sunday.

The juvenile has shown some classy progressive form this season. She delivered on her early promising displays when winning at Down Royal at the third time of asking. That was followed with an excellent run in defeat in a Listed race at Ayr before running a stormer in testing conditions to finish two lengths away from smart prospect Shadn at Group Two level at Maisons-Laffitte.

The Joseph O’Brien trained Lady Penelope will run in the Phoenix Thoroughbreds silks at Longchamp on Sunday.

She becomes the fourth Phoenix Thoroughbreds owned trained by Joseph O’Brien, who has expertly guided the filly’s career so far.

“We’ve been impressed with Lady Penelope’s progress this year,” Said Phoenix Thoroughbreds CEO Amer Abdulaziz. “She seems to be getting better with every start, which suggests she might make an even better three-year-old. We’re looking forward to seeing her race in our silks at the weekend and if she can show improved form again, we’re hopeful she can go close. Whatever happens, with luck will have a smart filly on our hands.”

By Night Of Thunder and from the family of Charm Spirit, Lady Penelope is related to plenty of top-class horses. He 2nd dam, Crossover was twice a winner in France including a Listed prize, while also placing in Group company. Snaadee, Russian Bond and Cristofori, close relations all, found success in Group company while another family member, Ransom O’War tasted victory at the highest level.
