Jojo Rabbit set to step back up in class

The Phoenix Ladies Syndicate owned Jojo Rabbit will step back up in class for his next start following the colt’s excellent second in the Super Sprint on Saturday.

Giving four pounds to the winner Happy Romance, the Archie Watson trained juvenile put in an impressive performance to be bested by only two and three-quarter lengths.

Purchased by Phoenix Ladies after his impressive win at Lingfield on his second start, the son of Due Diligence had his first run for the all-female group when eighth in a rain-affected Norfolk Stakes. A solid effort from a difficult draw in the listed Dragon at Sandown followed before he showed his class in Sunday’s valuable race.

“I was delighted with his run in the Super Sprint,” said Watson

“He finished off strongly and it will be strong form, with the winner racing off a lightweight and looking very good.

“We’ll stick to 5 Furlongs and look at stakes race options in August.”

The members of the Phoenix Ladies Syndicate will also have been encouraged by the debut of Miss Chess at Yarmouth last week. Finishing best of the field in the 7f contest, after being trapped in behind, she was just denied by half a length in 3rd. Going into many a Blackbook after that, trainer Ed Vaughan is looking towards the 7f Maiden Fillies race on the Thursday of the Goodwood’s Qatar Racing Festival.
