Retired Group One-winning sprinter Volatile now stands as a stallion at Three Chimneys Farm after garnering the reputation as one of the fastest horses in America.
Trained by Steve Asmussen he took his record to five wins in six starts when he took the Grade One Vanderbilt Handicap at Saratoga with plenty in hand, setting the fastest quarter mile in the race's history. That was following on from a devastating performance to take out the Aristides on his Stakes debut at Churchill Downs in a near course record time. Before that, his journey began with raw ability seeing him get off the mark at Ellis Park before improving nicely to win at Churchill downs on his third start. His victory in an Allowance race at Oaklawn gave a glimpse of things to come.
A Keeneland Yearling sales graduate he is out of winning mare Melody Lady the colt is a full brother to dual winning juvenile filly Buy Sell Hold, who also placed at Grade Three level. A lovely grey boy, he is related to plenty of Graded Stakes winners, perhaps most notably Grade One victor Lady Tak.
