Stamping his mark as one of the most exciting colts in the Southern Hemisphere with Victory in the stallion making Coolmore Stud Stakes, Exceedance is one of several horses owned by Phoenix as part of a consortium of high profile partners.
The Hawkes Racing trainee was quick to impress when the then Juvenile turned a lot of heads winning on debut at Wyong, showing late electric speed to come from second last turning for home to win a shade cosily.
He followed that run with an unlucky third-placed finish at Rosehill on his final start as a juvenile before returning looking better than ever to claim the G3 San Domenico Stakes on a heavy track at the same venue.
Despite a track bias and the race not being run to suit Exceedance ran a huge race next time up to finish third in the Group Two Run To The Rose, keeping him as one of the leading contenders for the G1 Golden Rose Stakes. There he would finish third before going on to complete his crowning glory victory at Flemington.
A son of champion sire Exceed And Excel, and out of listed winner Bonnie Mac, he is from the same family as top-class Upham/Basic Trilogy and Intimate Moment, both of which were winners at Group level. He was purchased by Vinery at the 2018 Inglis Easter Sale.
