Four more for Phoenix and Aquis at Magic Millions.

Four more for Phoenix and Aquis at Magic Millions.

Phoenix Thoroughbreds and Aquis Farm partnership took their total to 19 purchases at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by adding four more on Day five of trading.

The stallion syndicate are among the top spenders at this year’s sale as they look to capitalise on the successes of Farnan, Prague and Holyfield.

The first Lot signed over to the ambitious team was 880, a Redoute’s Choice colt with a very strong pedigree through the dam. That mare is an unraced full sister to Group Three winner Fifth Avenue Lady and a half-sibling to Group One success Miss Onassis. The colt himself is a half-brother to three winners, most notably 13-time winner, including multiple times at Listed level, Pearl Green.

Lot 915 one of two buys from the Kitchwin Hills draft picked up by the Phoenix Thoroughbreds/Aquis Farm partnerships on Day five of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

The Kitchwin Hills draft provided the next two purchases. An I Am Invincible colt out of Listed winner and Group One placed Torvill skated into the Group’s hearts as Lot 901. He is also from the family of the prolific Group Two winner Cangronde. Meanwhile, Lot 915 was picked up from the same offering and would hold a particular attraction to the Phoenix half of the partnership, being by Lonhro, the sire of their Dubai World Cup second Gronkowski. The yearling is out of an unraced half-sister to Listed winner Rock Hero and further examination of his family tree shows links to the classy Gallant Tess.

Rounding off the quartet of buys was a Snitzel colt listed as Lot 937. By Snitzel and out of More Than Ready Group Three winning mare Vivi Veloce, he has strong blood ties with Group winners Royal Sash and Sabatini.
