Breeding success.

Breeding success.

Phoenix Thoroughbreds are celebrating their most significant success as breeders so far after Letzbeglam took the Group Two Blue Diamond Prelude.

Out of the Dubai-based group’s mare Miss Charming, the daughter of Snitzel is now unbeaten in two starts. Owned by Cambridge Stud and trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young the juvenile filly looked full of potential when landing a comfortable success on debut at Werribee. She realised some of that with her victory at Caulfield. Despite being sent off at fancy prices, Letzbeglam sailed home to record a near two and a half-length win, staking her claim as a leading contender for the Blue Diamond Stakes.

Raised by Vinery Stud the promising filly was a $280,000 purchase at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and is a sister to the stakes-placed Snazz ‘n’ Charm. As for her dam, Miss Charming, she is s a half-sister to the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks and Grade 1 Hollywood Park Matriarch Stakes winner Tout Charmant, and the Grade II winner and Grade 1 placed Dancing House. Since producing Letzbeglam she birthed a foal to Hellbent and is currently pregnant to Invader.

Letzbeglam was sold at the 2019 Magic Million Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The breeding arm of Phoenix Thoroughbreds has always been an essential part of the international owners’ business plan. After years of planning and hard work, their efforts are paying off. Letzbeglam follows in the hoofprints Farnan, a dual winning homebred Phoenix race in partnership while plenty of the team’s yearlings are hitting the sales this year.

On the stallion front, the first foals by part-owned Acliam have been selling well in Europe and three-time Group One winner Advertise is booked for a busy time during his first season standing at the National Stud in Newmarket.
