Bharani Star displayed talent and determination in equal measure as she got off the mark at the third time of asking.
The official result reads a dead-heat first for the Phoenix Thoroughbreds owned filly who shared the spoils on handicap debut at Haydock on Monday, June 8.
Always held in high regard by trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam the progeny of Sea The Stars was held-up in the early stages of the mile and a half contest by jockey Andrea Atzeni. Travelling well throughout the pair made stylish headway in the home straight moving past rivals. At two furlongs out, the filly was still moving well and picked up nicely when asked to go and win her race. Briefly headed inside the final furlong, she put her head down and showed great heart to battle back and force the photo.
Bharani Star will now have a tentative entry in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot next week as the team behind her Dubai-based owners look forward to a potentially exciting campaign ahead.
