Advertise welcomes first foal.

“If all Advertise’s foals look like this then he’s a stallion to be excited about,” declared Sara Cuman as the first foal sired by Phoenix Thoroughbreds’ three-time Group one winning sprinter was born at her Fittocks Stud in Newmarket.

The imposing colt arrived on Tuesday, January 19 and has immediately created a very favourable impression. Out of first time well-bred broodmare Volcanique, the new arrival carries a stamp of his sire with a white streak down the centre of his face. The mare was a 130,000gns purchase from the Tattersalls December Mare Sale last month and is a three-part sister to last season’s Royal Ascot winner and Great Voltigeur second Highland Chief.

Advertise was retired to stand at the National Stud at the end of his three-year-old season having won both the Commonwealth Cup and Prix Maurice de Gheest. Those adding to the Phoenix Stakes and Group Two July Stakes he won as a juvenile. He covered an exceptional book of mares in his first season, including 67 black-type performers or producers, and has recently been touted as a “value sire” by TDN.

“We’re delighted with our colt,” said Mrs Cumani describing the foal. “He weighed 52kg and is a lovely bay colt with a stripe down his face. He is strong, attractive and well put together – we couldn’t have hoped for any more.”

“If all Advertise’s foals look like this then he’s a stallion to be excited about. We purchased the mare in December as it’s a family we have had a lot of luck with and we thought Advertise was an exciting cover.”

After pictures of the colt were circulated to the Phoenix Thoroughbreds team in Dubai the group’s CEO Amer Abdulaziz said:

“It’s great that the first foal for Advertise has arrived. He is such an impressive individual we were very confident he could produce top-quality foals and the early reports on this colt are very encouraging. Congratulations to Mrs Cumani and the team at Fittlocks on their new arrival and we wish them luck with him for the future.

“We are expecting some of our own Advertise foals in the next few weeks and are very excited. We’ve also booked some leading mares to be covered by him next season and it’s a very exciting time to be involved with the stallion.”
